When Stevie is standing on firm ground or on a platform you can keep the up arrow key ↑ or down arrow key ↓ pressed in order to look further into the respective direction. As a result, the frame will scroll towards that direction while Stevie keeps standing.
The function “Select Spell in Inventory” (5) is used to select the most recently selected spell from the inventory. In this way you can choose a certain spell then switch to a weapon and at the right moment you can reactivate the spell without having to open the inventory.
The functions “Quicksave” (F5) and “Quickload” (F9) let you save and load the game without having to enter the save/load menues. The quicksave method is a temporary way of saving the game and no entry is made in the list of savegames. Using quicksave is a good idea when Stevie is standing still or standing on a platform which is not on its way to a trap or to another critical spot. You should avoid “quicksaving” in dead-end situations. For example, such a situation can occur when you are falling down from a huge distance in a level and you are about to hit the bottom part of the screen.
